Wool Boots

Wool booties

Made from sweaters

I designed a new item today for the shop - recycled wool sweater boots. I made them from some felted sweaters I had because my feet were cold. They are really warm and cozy.
These are medium size and now I need to draft a small and large pattern too.

Denim Vessels

Denim vase

Denim basket

I braided some denim and made these yesterday. I sewed these using the sewing machine and a zigzag stitch. It's much easier on my hands!

Letters to Santa

Mailing a letter

The children in my village are mailing their letters to the North Pole in this little post box on the Diamond. This little guy was very excited about mailing his.

Sewing pins

Today I'm making rose pins for the shop. I love working with wool!
I found some beautiful cashmere and angora sweaters. It's a pleasure to sew.

I gessoed some little circles of wood I had and painted some little landscapes. This one is 1 3/4 inches wide.

Tussey Mountain

Tussey Mountain, oil on linen

This painting is little - 3 1/2 x 3 1/4. It's Tussey Mountain which is just South of my house.

Snow

Snowy landscape, oil on linen

I just finished this one. It's oil on linen 7 x 7. Reality has set in - it's snowing!
Now I need to make some more canvases. I have a lot of linen from Goodwill that I'm going to stretch on wood. I really like working on this small scale. Which is good because the linen clothing I scavenge from Goodwill isn't big enough for a big picture!

Painting

Landscape, oil on linen

Landscape, oil on linen

It's so cold and gray out and I have a cold and feel lousy - so I decided to paint.
It is cheering me up. I stretched some recycled linen on wooden frames and coated them with gesso last week (with the help of my niece Miranda, thanks!) so I got the paints out and started working.
This is the first one. It's 7 x 7 inches. It's hard to get a good picture because it's so dark. I was looking out the window on the Verandah and imagining it wasn't snowing. I'm going to do some more and I'll post them later.

Landscape II, oil on linen

This is the second one.

More Pendants

Vintage pendant display

Pendants on the tree

I added some more pendants to the display today. And I hung some of them on a little tree in the front room, keeping with the black and white theme there.

New Pendants

Pendants with vintage illustrations

Pendants

Eye spy

Here is a display of pendants I made today. They were really fun to make.
I decoupaged the illustrations onto wooden poker chips, glued silver bails to the back, and hung them on chains. They are antiqued and varnished.
I'm going to make some more tonight.

Hometown Christmas

Carriage rides

Letters to the North Pole

My village is having a Hometown Christmas celebration today. The Percherons pulling the carriage are gorgeous. And kids can write a letter to Santa and drop it in the little mailbox.

Mice

Catnip!

Catnip mouse

I made some catnip mice for the shop yesterday and Kitty loves them!
I used a recycled wool sweater and a leather skirt. I gave her one and had to wrap up the rest to keep her out of them.

Christmas Window

Front window

Wool blankets

I decorated the front window for Christmas last night. I wanted to show you how it turned out but it was hard to get a picture. It's kind of dark here - looks like it might snow. I used silver and icy blue for the colors.
And Kitty finds those wool blankets no matter where I move them!
