Katie was here and we made the wool bird ornaments. I love the way they turned out!

This embroidery was inspired by an 18th century piece of needlework.
It's done on recycled linen and the flowers are felt. I am really pleased with how the seed stitches worked for the feathers.

This morning I cut out a new owl stencil and made this linen pillow. I cut the eyes separately so I could move them around on the cloth. I'm trying to decide if they need feet or a branch.

As a landscape

I want to make some pillows and throws with small scraps that have a lot of texture so I started with this little sample pillow. It's made with recycled linen and cotton scraps. The patchiness reminds me of flying over fields and farms. I'm going to make a larger pillow next.

Here is a new stencil I cut out this morning. I'm going to make some pillows and sachets to go with my little birdies. The cloth is recycled linen.

I folded some paperback books yesterday to use as props in the shop. I like the way they look with the vintage photos. I got the idea from the Elle Decoration blog - they had a photo of a folded book display at Anthropologie.

I needed more display space in the shop but didn't want to buy something new. I had an old coffee table in the garage and my sister had the idea of cutting it up for a display. I really like the way it turned out! Thanks J and R for the help!

I have a large stack of comic books so I wanted to make something with them. I started with a wallet and a glasses case. I put vinyl on both sides for durability.
I want to make a tote bag next.

Today I'm making some little pillows out of recycled linen. And I'm stenciling a little bird on them. In the middle picture above you can see the card stock I'm using. I drew the bird in pencil and then cut it out. After stenciling the body I added the feet and branch freehand.

Happy Tuesday everyone! I've been making more birds and hanging them.
I'm going to make DIY kits with some of them. They'll have one finished bird and materials to make five more. I also listed these two totes in my Etsy shop today.

I'm making some little birds for my trees in the shop. I designed them to be two pieces that just slide together - no gluing. I have a German book that I'm using for the paper.

The body is one piece with a slit on the back and the wing is folded and slides on.
Then I'll sew on a thread to hang them.

This is a little picture I made of a vegetable garden in the summer. It's hand stitched with cotton floss and ecofelt.

Brown paper and string

I wrapped my first gift for a customer today. I'm using brown paper and string with bows made from recycled cotton and linen scraps. I saw something like this at Anthropology and thought it would go well with my whole recycled motif.
