Autumn sunset

This is a wall hanging I'm working on in the shop today. One of my neighbors gave me a bag of her quilting scraps and I got inspired to make this piece. I'm working left to right and still adding on to the right.

Stitching Group

Embroidery

I've been wanting to start a stitching group here at the shop so I decided to have the first meeting next Wednesday. It's going to be a lot of fun. Everyone will bring their own projects and we'll all work together. I'll be doing embroidery but any kind of needlework is ok. I'm going to put together some kits for anyone who doesn't have something started. Come on by!

Coffee sacks recycled

Coffee sack tote bags

I've been wanting to make some tote bags for the shop and yesterday I found some large burlap coffee bean sacks. They are perfect for the totes! I'm trying some different sizes.
I'm lining them with cotton prints from my fabric stash and putting on cotton straps. Very handy!

Crow quilt

While watching the shop this weekend I worked on the crow quilt. It's night time and I'm looking down through the branches to the patchwork ground below.

The ground is woven strips of denim and the branches are cut from a plaid shirt.
I'm filling the branches with stitches.

More lockets

Lockets

I put out some more lockets today. They are vintage family photos and antique glass from the 1820's. I had to replace a broken window in one of the upstairs rooms and used it for the lockets.
Waste not, want not.

It's a beautiful day in Boalsburg today. And I've had lots of visitors!

New things in the shop

My daughter was in town yesterday. We did some antiquing and I found some great things for the shop.


Old trunk

I found this old trunk yesterday - very cool. The leather handles have fallen off and been replaced by rope ones. There's a very pretty blue flowered paper lining inside.


Tureen

And I found this tureen too. It's in really good shape and has a ladle.


Oil can and bottles

I love this old oil can. And the little bottles look like they were just dug up.


Ironstone and soap

I also found this Ironstone footed bowl yesterday.
And the Pine Tree soap is new. It smells like Christmas.
